One critical part to Writer's Workshop is learning about how author's write for different purposes. One way to help students become more familiar with "HOW TO" Books is to put it into action! Students can create there own "How To" Instructional Books. This product offers additional resources for students to continue practicing a different text structure than fiction writing.
HOW TO USE IN YOUR CLASSROOM:You can cut out all of the different "HOW TO" cards and laminate them. Place them at a center on a ring, in a box, or post them on chart paper to let students choose their "How To" writing task for the day. This is a great writing center that offers student choice within the text structure writing focus. If students don't like what they see, let them make up their own "How TO" topic to write about.
